Gov. Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr. presided the 2nd Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Committee (PTESDC) meeting last May 25, 2023 at Governor’s Hall, Capitol Compound, Bangbangalon, Boac, Marinduque.
As the Chairperson of the Committee, his unwavering support to the programs and services of TESDA is very evident when he instructed the Provincial PESO Manager, Ms. Alma Timtiman who was also present during the meeting to assist the graduates on their possible employment. “The graduates of the Butterfly Production NC II should be provided with butterfly cage in their own backyard as a start-up and the Provincial government shall provide funds for this. For other skills, we should assist them in looking for employment here in the province and even outside of the province,” he said. He also reiterated to immediately implement the remaining scholarship slots and while waiting for the approval of the National Qualification maps, recruitment and selection of qualified beneficiaries should be undertaken.
In attendance were the PTESDC members from different sectors, DTI for the government sector, Mr. Domingo Dela Cruz as president of ATVIM representing the academe and Mr. Rafael Constantino Seño representing the labor sector, PD Zoraida V. Amper as the co- chair person and head of the Secretariat. Present also were the TTI administrators.
The meeting ended up with the resolution supporting the Marinduque Provincial Bamboo Industry Development Council roadmap and strategic plan through development of trainers and farmers in the Bamboo Production NC II and Bamboo Processing (Engineered Bamboo) NC II. The meeting also highlighted the implementation status of TESDA programs and projects and update/ status and ways forward on the establishment of Provincial Enhacement of Skills Benefiting the Youth (PRESBY) Training Center, a Provincial Government – run training center.
