TESDA to give 30,000 Scholarship Grants for MIMAROPA Region

TESDA will be giving 30,000 scholarship slots in skills training through the Barangay Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan or BKKK in MiMaRoPa Region in 2017 as their initial support , TESDA Director General, Secretary Guiling “Gene”  A. Mamondiong  said during his visit in the province of Oriental Mindoro on November 11, 2016 The regional launching was held at the Filipiniana Hotel, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

Mamondiong spoke his aspirations to continue the agency’s programs and his support for President Duterte against poverty, corruption and anti-drug campaigns. He also said that no one will be rejected in availing the scholarships and after the training, graduates will be given assistance in livelihood or employment in partnership with DOLE, DA and DTI. Special trainings for the indigenous people will also be conducted. The said slot will increase up to 50,000 to 60,000 in April 2017.

The launching was attended by TESDA MIMAROPA Provincila Directors and VSAs, Municipal Mayors in the MIMAROPA Region, Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs), Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTECs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), representatives from the Muslim communities and Barangay Captains from Calapan City and Victoria, Oriental Mindoro and Media people.

Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan thru Ms. Mirasol Luna, welcomed the participants of the Barangay Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan Regional Launching. He extends his support and gratitude to TESDA in launching programs for poverty reductions. He stated that the city of Calapan has cultured its relationship to TESDA and said that the authority has a very important role in human capital formation.

Vice-Governor Humerlito A. Dolor also welcomed TESDA Chief. In his 4th term being the Chairman of the Regional Technical Education and Skills Development Committee (RTESDC), he shared TESDA’s important role today. He said that, before, the National Government did not care in choosing for the beneficiaries of the scholarships but now that the BKKK was launched, it’s giving value to the smallest unit of our society. He said that this program must be sustained and he also added that the DOLE must also be a partner in these changes, innovations, and trainings.
