2016 ACCOMPLISHMENT OF TESDA MIMAROPA

The year 2016 was indeed a very promising year for the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) MIMAROPA Region.  It has proven its value as the country’s leading organization for technical education and skills development.  Its untiring commitment to respond to the increasing demand and expectation of its clients and stakeholders is constantly showed through its achievements.

TESDA’s clients who were given profiling reached a total of 26,857.  Enrollment in TVET reproduced a total of 51,092 persons whereas the number of graduates recorded a total of 52,308 in various qualifications in the public and private training providers of the region.  Assessment data reflected a total of 35,797 persons assessed and certified 32,003 skilled persons.  This registered an 89% certification rate for the region.

As of 2016, the region has 118 private and public TVET providers and registered a total of 375 TVET programs.  There are 212 accredited Assessment Centers and 365 accredited assessors existing in all of the five provinces of the region.

There were 7,445 persons who were given scholarship grants under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), Skills Training for Employment Program (STEP), Bottom-Up-Budgeting (BuB) and Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA).

Accredited trainers and assessors of public and private training providers were sent to different skills training programs to enhance and upgrade their knowledge and skills.  A total of 299 trainers attended the Trainers Methodology (TM) Level 1 and 139 trainers/assessors for skills upgrading programs.

Monitoring on the status of the employment of TVET graduates was undertaken by the region and recorded a total of 1,992 TVET graduates who were employed either by self and wage employment.

Training intervention was likewise provided to those persons affected by disasters in the stricken affected areas in the region which registered 138 persons who were trained in Masonry, Carpentry, Maintain and Repair Electronically-controlled Domestic Appliances and Service Small Engine Systems and Components.

A technical audit of TVET schools and programs was conducted last year to validate the continuous compliance of the registered program of the school to the TESDA requirements and standards and identify areas for improvement in the delivery of quality TVET programs.  A total of 427 registered programs were subjected to technical audit by the audit team.

TESDA MIMAROPA will continue to carry out its mandate and mission as an authority in TVET with the end view of service excellence and customer satisfaction.
