On May 3, 2023 at Paradigm Colleges of Science and Technology (PCST) Cover Court, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, a graduation ceremony for the 1st batch of scholars of UAQTEA Diploma Program in Hotel and Restaurant Technology in MIMAROPA was held with the theme: TVET Graduates: Equipped with 21st Century Skills Through Quality TVET Programs.
Attending the said commencement exercises along with the TESDA MIMAROPA Regional Director Angelina M. Carreon was OIC- PD Joey C. Aclan of TESDA PO Oriental Mindoro.
Mr. Gen Manuel B. Felix, PCST Chief of Staff of Paradigm Colleges of Science and Technology – TESDA Accredited Institution, sincerely welcomed all the graduates, participants and guests. Ms. Cecillia Migrace Erorita-Felix, PCST President, on the other hand, presented and confirmed the graduates.
In the Commencement Address of the keynote speaker, TESDA MIMAROPA Regional Director Angelina M. Carreon, she gave emphasis on the 3 important key words in the commencement exercises’ theme: “equipped, skills (21st century) and quality”.
“As graduates of Diploma Program in Hotel and Restaurant Technology, you are now equipped and armed with the right skills and knowledge gained from 3 years of combined quality learning of theoretical and applications of the 12 qualifications under this program,” she said.
“It is high time that you put all your learnings into action. You just have to have the right work attitude, work values and commitment. I am confident that you will have better chances of getting a better life, be productive and get decent jobs, because not only do you carry a 3-year Diploma, you are also equipped and certified for at most 12 qualifications, that means 12 possible choices that you can use to apply for a job. I challenge you to take the height and find your place where you will excel. I challenge all of you graduates to make sure everything that you do is in pursuit of your dreams so that you will become successful in the future. Never be discouraged, never be disappointed, continue your positive outlook in life, work hard and work smart. Make me proud! Make us all proud of you!”, she added.
RD Carreon ended her message through the following lines: “Through this remarkable accomplishment, with the unity, teamwork and commitment, we truly believe that TESDA 4BMOVES (maximizing opportunities for vibrant excellent services) in every way.”
The 3-year diploma program of TESDA is under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA) or the Republic Act 10931 which was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in April 2017 which gives Filipinos the opportunity to avail of free tertiary education in both public and private institutions.
