Themed, “Empowered CTECs towards Relevant and Increased Accessibility to TVET for better employment of MIMAROPA, Skilled Workforce”, TESDA MIMAROPA led by Regional Director Angelina M. Carreon, along with its Provincial Directors, gathered Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTECs) as primary TVET advocates in their respective communities through the 2023 CTECs’ Congress, Manila Heritage Hotel.
The said congress updated, empowered and further educated Governors, Mayors and other Local Chief Executives in their vital roles in nurturing a rich CTEC culture in the region. Invited from the Local Government Units (LGUs) are the Municipal and City Mayors (73) and their CTECs (73), PESO Managers (5) from the five (5) provinces of MIMAROPA and other stakeholders.
The event was graced by DDG Vidal D. Villanueva, III of TESDA- ODDG for Special Concerns. After an inspirational message from DDG Vidal, the invited resource persons were given the floor namely Governor Presbitero Velasco, Jr. of the Province of Marinduque; Engr. Michael Casto A. Ras II of DILG MIMAROPA; Dir. Floramel Joy C. Songsong, Executive Director of PLO;
and PD Gerardo A. Mercado from TESDA PO-Palawan.
Highlighting the event also was the Election and Oath Taking of the Regional CTEC Officers and the Awarding of Regional and Provincial Best CTECs.
A Plaque of Appreciation was awarded to Hon. Leody F. Tarriela, Representative from the Lone District of Occidental Mindoro for facilitating the Php5.22M budget of Rizal, Occidental Mindoro TESDA Training and Accreditation Center (ROMTTAC) starting FY 2024 inclusion in the GAA. Another plaque was given to Hon. Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco, Representative from the Lone District of Marinduque had allocated Php30 Million funding for the construction of Provincial Training Center – Marinduque and TESDA Provincial Office building. Further, another one was handed to Hon. Eleandro Jesus F. Madrona, Representative from the Lone District of Romblon for providing financial assistance for the MIMAROPA delegation to the ASEAN Skills Competition held at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre, Suntec City,
Singapore.
The eight (😎 already established LGU-run Training Centers in Oriental Mindoro were also recognized through the giving of plaques of recognition. This includes Baco Community College, Baco Technical Vocational College, Colegio de Naujan, Language Skills Institute of Oriental Mindoro, Gloria Institute of Science and Technology, Municipal Development Technical and Vocational Institute, Roxas Community College and Bulalacao Technical Vocational College.
Moving forward, TESDA MIMAROPA will continue to provide avenues as this for LGUs and stakeholders to convene and have a unified understanding and updating on devolution and implementation of TVET programs towards an uplifted and improved quality of service.
