The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) MIMAROPA Region, in partnership with the State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Presidents and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) MIMAROPA, held a significant collaboration meeting to discuss strategies aimed at boosting regional development through skills training, education, and economic planning.
The meeting focused on fostering synergies among key stakeholders to address the growing need for relevant skills development in the region. The dialogue was centered around aligning TESDA’s training programs with the educational objectives of SUCs and the regional development plans set forth by NEDA.
TESDA MIMAROPA Director Angelina M. Carreon, CESO III, emphasized the importance of tailoring technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programs to the specific needs of the region’s industries, particularly in the agriculture, tourism, and new and emerging sectors.
The meeting also highlighted the vital role of SUCs in expanding educational access and improving the quality of higher education in MIMAROPA. The SUC Presidents present underscored their commitment to enhancing academic curricula that align with the region’s labor market demands, ensuring that graduates are equipped with skills that meet industry standards.
Meanwhile, NEDA MIMAROPA Regional Director, Agustin C. Mendoza, outlined the long-term vision for the region’s economic growth, which includes a focus on infrastructure development, poverty reduction, and improving the employability of the region’s workforce. He also stressed the importance of a collaborative approach to development, implying that the coordination between TESDA, SUCs, and NEDA will ensure that our workforce is adequately prepared to contribute to the regional economy, especially in light of the challenges posed by the global economic landscape.
A significant portion of the meeting also delved into strategies for fostering stronger public-private sector partnerships. These partnerships are seen as a key driver in providing funding, technical support, and employment opportunities for graduates of TESDA and SUCs. By strengthening connections between educational institutions, government agencies, and the private sector, the region aims to ensure that its workforce is both competitive and adaptable.
The collaboration meeting between TESDA MIMAROPA, the SUC Presidents, and NEDA MIMAROPA marks a crucial step toward realizing the vision of a more sustainable and prosperous region. By aligning skills development, education, and economic planning, the partners hope to create a more resilient and skilled workforce capable of responding to the challenges and opportunities of the future.
