The much-awaited MOA Signing between TESDA and Agri-Fishery Industry TVET Board of Rizal was finally concluded on February 20, 2024 at TESDA MIMAROPA Regional Office, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. After more than one year of coordination, collaboration and discussion, the establishment of Industry TVET Board has finally come into a reality.

The Industry Board is composed of the following members/ sectors: Government Sector – Bureau of Fishery and Aquatic Resources (BFAR); Education Sector – Occidental Mindoro TVET Providers Association (OMTPA); Industry Sector – Federation of Fisherfolks Association of Rizal (FEFAR); Labor Sector – Upper Rizal Farmers Association (URFA) and TESDA. TESDA MIMAROPA Regional Director RD Angelina M. Carreon, in her opening message said that the MOA Signing between TESDA and the Agri-Fishery Industry TVET Board of Rizal is among the MOAs that she was looking into in the Province of Mindoro since there have been many initiatives on agriculture already but only a number in agri- fishery. She hoped for the enhancement of the fisherfolks, professionalizing of the fishing industry and fishermen as constant players in the value chain. She also encouraged and challenged the members of the Industry TVET Board for their commitment from inception to implementation of the program.

On the other hand, Ms. Conchita Q. Roldan Chairman of FEFAR, expressed her gratitude to TESDA for the establishment of Industry Board and choosing FEFAR as partner in this noble project. FEFAR has 12 associations with active members who are ready and willing to participate in all programs of the industry board. She hoped that thru this partnership, the fisherfolks will be given the opportunity to enhance their skills, increase their income and elevate their standard of living.

Furthermore, TESDA-Occidental Mindoro Provincial Director Rosalina P. Reyes said that she pursued this MOA with FEFAR because Agri-Fishery is a unique project. TESDA PO Occidental Mindoro has plenty of programs for Agriculture- farming but this is the first project for Agri-Fishery sector. She was looking forward that this MOA will not end in signing but the beginning of a fruitful partnership with the industry associations and member sectors.
